On July 13, 2010, The National Inflation Association (NIA) issued a press release stating their belief that hyperinflation may become a reality in America by 2015. According to the NIA, government debt coupled with price controls will eventually reduce the value of the US dollar to nearly nothing.
A lot of families are preparing for such a crisis. Rabbits may be part of the solution.

Rabbit meat is lower in calories, fat, and cholesterol, and higher in protein when compared to chicken, turkey, beef, and pork. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has declared domestic rabbit meat to be the most nutritious meat known to man.  
By raising your own rabbits you can ensure that you food is free of hormones and steroids.

In general we've found the most cost effective time for slaughter(most meat vs least amount of feed) as well as the most tender meat is between 8 to 10 weeks of age. At that time a Flemish should be six to 10 pounds which would yield roughly 3 to 5 pounds of boneless meat.

With short gestation of only 31 days, a pair of rabbits can produce as many as
180 babies a year with agressive breeding.  We chose Flemish Giants because they are one of the biggest breeds of rabbit.  They commonly grow to 20 pounds or more.  These pictures show the difference in the amount of meat between a Flemish Giant and others rabbits of the same age.
